Tipoff is set for noon CT. Kylen Mills (pxp) and Christy Winters-Scott (analyst) will be on the call for FS1.
THE STARTING FIVE
BY THE NUMBERS
8 - Outrebounded by 18 on Wednesday versus Seton Hall, Marquette was handed its eighth loss of the season when outrebounded by its opponent.
4 - Scoring 60 points in her last three games, junior Skylar Forbes has come within four points of 1,000 for her career.
3 - Marquette has not lost three games in a row during the past two seasons. The last time was Dec. 21-31, 2022. Those three losses were Colorado, Villanova and UConn.
FLASHING BACK - GAME 25 VS SETON HALL
HISTORY WITH THE UCONN
START ON THE FRONT FOOT
While some teams can start slow and pick up steam in games, Marquette has struggled a bit in doing that. Ten times this season, the Golden Eagles opponents' haven't scored first. MU is 2-8 in those games compared to 14-1 when scoring first.
PROTECTING THE AL
Since Cara Consuegra took over last season, the Golden Eagles have been dominant at the Al McGuire Center. In 27 games on its home court, Marquette is 22-5.
A WALKING DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Recording her 10th double-double of the season on Feb. 4, Halle Vice continues to lead the BIG EAST in the category. The junior had just one double-double through the first five weeks of the season but has recorded six during an eight-game stretch from Dec. 14-Jan. 14. Working through an injury, Vice was without one for a three-game stretch before recording one in each of her last three outings.
ELITE COMBINATION
Not just a shot blocker, not just a 3-point shooter, Skylar Forbes is proving this season that she is both. Forbes is currently shooting 36.8% from deep while also posting 1.91 blocks per game (27th).
DIALING UP FROM LONG DISTANCE
A 41.5% 3-point shooter a season ago, Lee Volker has bumped that number up to 43.5% this year and ranks 18th in the NCAA. That number has the grad student 2% behind her former AAU teammate Azzi Fudd for the top spot in the BIG EAST.
Tipoff is set for noon CT. Kylen Mills (pxp) and Christy Winters-Scott (analyst) will be on the call for FS1.
THE STARTING FIVE
- After putting together a season-long five-game winning streak, Marquette dropped its last two games to Creighton and Seton Hall. In both games, the Golden Eagles surrendered slim halftime leads after previously going 12-2 this year when leading at the half.
- Without a 20-point game since Jan. 4, Skylar Forbes broke out for 22 and 21 last week to earn herself a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Feb. 8). She added 17 against Seton Hall on Wednesday. The 60 points during the three-game stretch is more than her previous six games combined (Jan. 8-Feb. 1). Forbes has shot 53.5% (23-of-43) from the field during her last three outings.
- With Forbes just four points away from 1,000 career points, she will be the second player on this year's team to eclipse 1,000 career points as Jaidynn Mason accomplished the feat on Jan. 21 at St. John's. The potential for a third is there as the season winds down as Lee Volker currently sits at 928 points.
- With just three double-doubles during the first month-and-a-half of the season, Halle Vice has posted seven since Dec. 29. Her 10 double-doubles leads the BIG EAST and is three clear of second. The junior's scoring production has been aided by her efficiency as she ranks No. 22 in the NCAA in field goal percentage at 57.2%.
- Marquette's strength this season comes in its experience and continuity as the program is the only one in Division I women's college basketball to return all of its players from the 2024-25 season. Though everyone returned, the Golden Eagles have had just two games this season (Winthrop, Georgetown) with everyone available (excluding J.J. Barnes and Aryelle Stevens who were ruled out for the year heading into the season). Starting guard Olivia Porter was lost for the season due to an injury sustained on Feb. 1.
- Marquette dropped two regular-season games in the same season to Seton Hall for the first time in their series history.
- MU was outrebounded by 18, its third-largest differential this season.
- MU dropped to 4-8 on the year when outrebounded.
- The 18 second-half points were the fewest points in a half this season for the Golden Eagles.
- Scoring 17 points, Skylar Forbes moved within four points of 1,000 for her career.
HISTORY WITH THE UCONN
- Marquette and Seton Hall will meet for the 25th time in their history.
- UConn holds the series lead at 23-1.
- The Golden Eagles' lone win came at the Al McGuire Center on Feb. 8, 2023 (59-52).
- UConn won the first meeting this season 89-53 on Dec. 17, 2025 in Hartford. It stood as the smallest margin of victory for the Huskies against a BIG EAST opponent this season until Feb. 7 when UConn, playing without Sarah Strong, defeated Butler by 32.
START ON THE FRONT FOOT
While some teams can start slow and pick up steam in games, Marquette has struggled a bit in doing that. Ten times this season, the Golden Eagles opponents' haven't scored first. MU is 2-8 in those games compared to 14-1 when scoring first.
- The tip has also been an indicator the Golden Eagles as they are 1-5 this season when losing the tipoff. At Butler on Jan. 25, Marquette won its first game of the year when losing the tip.
- Marquette has lost the tip and did not score first in each of its last two games, both losses.
PROTECTING THE AL
Since Cara Consuegra took over last season, the Golden Eagles have been dominant at the Al McGuire Center. In 27 games on its home court, Marquette is 22-5.
- • This season, MU is 9-3 at home with eight of those wins coming by double digits. Four of those wins have been by 25 or more.
- Her stretch of four straight games (Dec. 20-Jan. 4) with a double-double is the longest stretch of consecutive double-doubles by a Golden Eagle since Erika Davenport had a double-double in five straight games in 2019 (Jan. 11-25).
- Vice's 10 double-doubles ranks 24th in the NCAA. Nine of them have come in her last 16 games.
ELITE COMBINATION
Not just a shot blocker, not just a 3-point shooter, Skylar Forbes is proving this season that she is both. Forbes is currently shooting 36.8% from deep while also posting 1.91 blocks per game (27th).
- Forbes is one of three players in the country currently averaging 1.9 blocks per game and shooting over 35% from 3 (min. 30 attempts).
- Forbes is one of four players in the country who has attempted at least 100 3-pointers while averaging 1.9 blocks per game.
- Volker has shot over 50% in five of the last nine games, and is a combined 22-of-46 during the stretch (47.8%).
