Blagoev and Roegner claim singles wins for Marquette
CHICAGO, Ill. -Â The Marquette University men's tennis drops 5-2 decision to UIC Friday evening.
The Flames began the match by taking the doubles point to give them a 1-0 team advantage.
Â
"This was probably the most physical team we have played so far. Especially in doubles," director of tennis Jud Shaufler said. "Kristian and Blake did a good job on winning their singles matches. Our ability to match up to physical teams needs to be better and will get better."
Â
Senior Blake Roegner notched a singles win at the no. 1 spot (2-6, 7-5, ret) to put MU on the board.
Â
Freshmen Kristian Blagoev scored a MU singles win at the no. 4 position in straight set fashion (6-1, 7-6).
Â
Despite the two MU singles wins UIC was able to claim the four more wins in singles action to give the Flames a 5-2 win. Â
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles back in action next weekend at the new Sprovieri Tennis Complex as they take on Drake (Jan. 31) and DePaul (Feb 1).   Â
