Marquette Men's Tennis Are Able to Gain Momentum As They Head Into Midwest Regional Play
Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Marquette University men's tennis team competed at the Western Michigan Invitational this weekend, delivering a strong showing throughout the two-day competition.
Chadwick Anderson led the Golden Eagles in singles play, securing three victories. Anderson opened with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 victory over Bernardo Vialle of DePaul. He then picked up two wins against Ball State opponents, defeating Nolan Hayward, 6-1, 6-4, before earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Zack Kimelman.
Marquette's Evan Solheim and Remi St. Laurent each added two singles victories. Solheim defeated Western Michigan's Drew Evans, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8, before earning another three-set victory over Gonzaga's Tristan Hernandez, 7-5, 0-6, 12-10.
St. Laurent opened singles play with a 4-6, 6-0, 10-3 victory over Butler's Alex Borbiu. He later secured another three-set win against Butler's Shane Hand, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
Clayton Anderson also contributed to Marquette's singles success, earning a victory over Western Michigan's Jose Perez, 4-6, 3-6, 10-7.
In doubles competition, St. Laurent and Solheim teamed up to earn two victories. The duo defeated DePaul's Valter Larsson and August Pardo Cano, 6-3, before securing a 6-4 victory over Gonzaga's Tom Dunlop and Michael Mitchell.
Clayton Anderson and Kristian Blagoev also added a doubles victory for the Golden Eagles, defeating Butler's Ronin Kasday and Arnesh Singh, 6-0.

The Golden Eagles will return to action on October 15th – October 18th at the ITA Midwest Regionals in Columbus, Ohio.
