Golden Eagles begin BIG EAST play September 20 at Villanova
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The Marquette University men's soccer team (4-3-1, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) dropped a 2-0 decision at UIC (4-3-0, 0-0-0 The Valley) Sunday evening at Flames Field.
Flames controlled possession early in the match, neither team had a shot on goal through the first 15 minutes. The Flames kept pressure on MU's backline and scored in 21st minute UIC to take a 1-0 advantage. Â
UIC scored in the 44th minute off of a cross that snuck past MU's backline and goalkeeper Marten Brink.
The Golden Eagles turned up the pressure on the Flames backline but were unable to even the score. MU closed the first half with two shots on goal.
Both squads came out of the locker room looking for quality chances and put pressure on each other's backline but were unable to find the back of the net.
In the 71st minute Justin Milovanov was booked for a red card which led to the Golden Eagles playing the remainder of the match with 10 men on the field.
