
MSOC Hosts 50th Milwaukee Cup

Golden Eagles open two-match homestand Tuesday
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's soccer team (6-4-1, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) will host the 50th Milwaukee Cup vs crosstown rival UW-Milwaukee (5-2-3, 1-2-1 Horizon) Tuesday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Valley Fields.
MSOC Falls 1-0 At No. 15 Seton Hall
The two squads began the contest with a possession battle that lasted for majority of the first half. In the 35th minute Seton Hall connected and found the back the net after a through ball made its way past MU's backline, giving the Pirates a 1-0 advantage.
The Golden Eagles had chances on goal but could not find the back of the net in the first half. MU registered two shots in the first half.
Marquette controlled possession and turned the offensive pressure in the second half. The Golden Eagles finished the second half with seven shots.
Despite the extra effort in the second half the Golden Eagles were unable to find the back of the net to tie the score.
Matchup History
Tuesday's match will be the 50th meeting between Marquette and UW-Milwaukee in program history.  The two teams have faced each other nearly every season since 1973 when the Milwaukee Cup commenced.Â
The winning team of the Milwaukee Cup keeps the trophy in its possession until the next meeting. Marquette has held possession of the cup since 2022 when MU took a 5-2 win over the Panthers.The last match was played at UWM and resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Despite Marquette keeping the cup for past two seasons, the Panthers hold the advantage over the Golden Eagles with 31 wins.Â
