Madrigal records first career brace
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's soccer team (3-0-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) earned victory in dominate fashion over Detroit Mercy (0-3-0, 0-0-0 Horizon) Friday evening at Valley Fields.

"We grew, we had the opportunity to grow with a lot of different people," head coach Louis Bennett said on the match. "Our guys were hungry to do their jobs and it showed in the second half."

The Golden Eagles started the match with aggressive play all over the pitch, earning their first quality look at finding the net just in the second minute of the match. Shortly after, Abdoul Karim Pare scored to give the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead on the Titans.

The Golden Eagles maintained pressure the entire first half, but couldn't finish their great looks at goal, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.

MU came out of the locker room with intensity and pressed the opposition and in the 53rd minute, Beto Soto found Brooklyn Merl for his fourth goal of the season, giving Marquette a 2-0 advantage.

In the 79th minute of the match, Noah Madrigal found Lucas Nesthus for his first goal of the season.

Freshman Ryan Amond picked up his first career assist in the 84th minute, finding Noah Madrigal for his first goal of the season and Marquette had a 4-0 advantage.

With the Golden Eagles offensive free flowing, MU struck again in the 87th minute when Antonio Costabile broke through the Titans'Â backline to score his first career goal.

Twenty seconds later, Noah Madrigal earned his first career brace on a PK in the 87th minute, giving the Golden Eagles a 6-0 lead.

Sophomore keeper Ludvig Målberg recorded back-to-back clean sheets and gave MU it's second shutout of the season.
