MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Connor Alba captured three huge points for the Marquette University men's soccer team on Saturday, scoring with 27 seconds left in double-overtime to stun host St. John's at Belson Stadium.
Alba's fifth career goal was a redemption of sorts after missing what would have been the game's first goal in the 78th minute. With time winding down, he was "Johnnie on the spot" after tapping home a flick from Jason Davis following a great cross from Brody Kraussel for the winner with just 27 seconds remaining in the second overtime. The goal also prevented the two sides from playing to their fourth scoreless draw in five meetings.

The clean sheet was the first for Marquette this season and extended an impressive shutout streak of 579 minutes against St. John's. The Golden Eagles haven't allowed a goal to SJU since 2010 and are now unbeaten in their previous six meetings (3-0-3).
Junior Luis Barraza made three saves to record his sixth career shutout.
St. John's held a 12-9 lead in shots. After being held the first 45 minutes without a shot, Marquette outshot the Johnnies in the second half and overtime, including a 4-0 edge in shots in the final 10 minutes.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 21, taking on Xavier in a 6:05 p.m. Central time start.
