Men's Soccer Dominates National and Conference Awards

MILWAUKEE - Following back-to-back shutouts over Pittsburgh and Seton Hall, senior Andy Huftalin, junior Paul Dillon and freshman Adam Hermsen of the Marquette University men's soccer team earned national and league recognitions for their contributions in the victories.
Huftalin was named National Offensive Player of the Week and BIG EAST Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, in addition to being tabbed to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week and the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll. He tallied six points in the 4-0 win at Pittsburgh. In the second half against the Panthers, Huftalin ignited MU's offense by tallying his team-leading eighth and ninth goals of the season, while also picking up a pair of assists.
Dillon earned a spot on College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his stellar play in MU's back third. He, along with Hermsen, helped anchor a Marquette defense that recorded its eighth and ninth shutouts of the season. Dillon also picked up his sixth assist of the season when he found Anthony Selvaggi for the game-winning goal in the contest with Seton Hall.
The solid defensive play of Marquette continued to gain recognition as Hermsen was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. The Appleton, Wis., native played all 180:00 minutes against Pittsburgh and Seton Hall, and is the only true freshman to have started all 15 matches for the Golden Eagles.
Marquette is 14-1-0 overall and is ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation, according to the latest College Soccer News poll. The Golden Eagles will play nationally ranked Notre Dame twice this week in a pair of highly anticipated BIG EAST Blue Division match-ups.
