Marquette Athletics Celebrates Historic Philanthropic Support

More than 9,000 donors stepped up through philanthropic gifts
Marquette University Athletics raised $21.8 million in support of our student-athletes in Fiscal Year 2026 thanks to alumni, parents, friends and fans. Across our 17 NCAA Division I varsity programs and spirit squads, more than 9,000 donors stepped up through philanthropic gifts. That includes 25 gifts of $100,000 or more.
This marks significant momentum for Marquette Athletics programs in light of the ever-competitive college sports landscape. Commitments to the men's basketball excellence fund increased by a remarkable 130% while Olympic Sports programs experienced a 112% increase in philanthropic giving. A particular spotlight this past year was men's soccer, which grew by an incredible 686% increase in gift commitments and a 285% increase in donors.
"The support of the Marquette community is truly inspiring and fuels us as we compete and as we shape the young women and men who represent the university across our fields of play," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Mike Broeker.
Give Marquette Day — the university's annual 24-hour giving day — raised nearly $600,000 from more than 1,400 donors, including nearly 200 former student-athletes. These funds provide additional resources such as travel opportunities, enhanced wellness and nutrition, coaching support, leadership development and transformational team experiences across Marquette's 17 sports programs.
Support for Athletics also contributed to Marquette's overall philanthropic success in Fiscal Year 2026, which closed in June — a record-setting year for donor participation and the university's fifth consecutive year surpassing $100 million raised.
"It's impressive to see how our donors answer the call for Marquette Athletics each year. The university's strong philanthropic momentum is reflected in the spirit of Athletics benefactors," said Tim McMahon, vice president for University Advancement.
