James Jr., Ross finish with double figures in points
The Marquette University men's basketball team (10-19, 5-13 BIG EAST) continued conference play with a 62-51 loss against DePaul (16-13, 8-10 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Fiserv Forum.
Â
Freshman guard Nigel James Jr. finished with 14 points and seven rebounds and senior Chase Ross added 12 points.
Â
The Golden Eagles trimmed an 18-point halftime deficit to single digits on a pair of occasions through the midway point of the second half, but each time the Blue Demons were able to respond. A 16-2 MU run however, closed the gap to 50-47 at the final media timeout. Unfortunately for MU, three points was as close as the team would get down the stretch.
Â
Marquette trailed 32-14 at the intermission after shooting just 22.7 percent from the floor and 0-for-10 from behind the 3-point line.Â
Â
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles hit the road for the final time in the regular season, traveling to Providence for a 6 p.m. CT matchup on Wednesday, March 4.
