WBB Falls At Villanova, 64-39

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Marquette women's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game, falling 64-39 to Villanova on Sunday afternoon at Finneran Pavilion.
Lee Volker scored a team-high 11 points for the Golden Eagles. The Wildcats got a game-high 18 points from Jasmine Bascoe.
After scoring its first points of the game, Marquette committed seven turnovers during a 12-0 Villanova run. The Golden Eagles' drought lasted just over seven minutes before a triple from Volker made it 14-5 with 1:23 on the clock. MU had nine turnovers during the opening 10 minutes and trailed by 11.
Despite not scoring for the final 4:14 of the second, Marquette's deficit remained 11 at the half. MU was held to just 31.6% shooting from the field and shot 1-of-7 from deep.
The Golden Eagles' deficit grew to 16 midway through the third before the offense got going. MU converted on four of its next six attempts after going down 16, but could only pull to within 12 by the end of the period.
Marquette scored the first two points of the fourth quarter but then went four minutes without a bucket as Villanova went on a 10-0 run to open up a 20-point cushion. The Wildcats' lead grew to as much as 25 late in the period outscoring MU 21-8 during the final 10 minutes.

Marquette returns to Milwaukee on Wednesday night, hosting Xavier on Senior Night. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center. Prior to the game, the program will honor its seven departing seniors and five managers.
