
WSOC Hosts St. John's, DePaul In BIG EAST Play

Red Storm visit Valley Fields at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1, DePaul on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
The Marquette University women's soccer team (4-3-3, 0-0-2 BIG EAST) returns to Valley Fields this week to host a pair of BIG EAST Conference outings.

The Golden Eagles face St. John's (2-4-4, 0-1-2 BIG EAST) at 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Oct. 1 before welcoming DePaul (3-6-1, 0-1-1) to campus at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 4.

This week's action will conclude a run of 4-of-5 outings at home, but Marquette has played just four matches since Sept. 4.
Leigh A Consistent Scoring Threat

Sophomore forward Jocelyn Leigh accounted for Marquette's lone goal in the 1-1 draw at Creighton, finding the back of the net for the fifth time in seven outings.

The Evanston, Illinois native was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season on Monday afternoon.

Leigh leads the roster in goals (5) and is ranked among the league leaders (t5th). Â Since the 2020-21 campaign, only three other players (Leigh, Katrina Wetherell - 5, and Tess O'Connell - 6) have scored five-or-more goals in a season.Â

The Golden Eagles are in search of their first win since Aug. 31, at 4-1 decision at St. Thomas.

MU is 0-1-3 in its last four outings, including three-straight draws in its last trio of outings. Â The last time Marquette concluded three-consecutive outings with a draw came in the 2007 campaign when overtime sessions were still an option. In 2024, Marquette averaged just 1.10 goals per match and collected a total of 91 shots on goal (already 64 through 10 matches in 2025), which is 50.0 percent of the team's overall attempts (128).

Through matches of Sept. 27, MU ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in goals per outing (1.70).

Defensively, Marquette has allowed just 43 opposing shots on frame, only 38.7 percent of the total attempts (111). Â
