Volleyball Sweeps UConn Saturday Night In BIG EAST Action

Ring leads with 15 kills, Radeff chips in 10
The Marquette University volleyball team (8-4, 2-0 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 3-0 sweep against UConn (11-3, 0-2 BIG EAST) on Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center.

Senior Natalie Ring led the way with 15 kills and classmate Elena Radeff chipped in 10 of her own. BIG EAST Setter of the Week Isabela Haggard finished with 30 assists.Â

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early margin in the opening set, but the Huskies would rally and eventually take the lead, 20-19. Marquette, however, responded with a 5-0 run to take a 24-20 advantage and held on for the 25-22 win.

Set two was all Golden Eagles, who claimed a 25-16 win to move ahead 2-0. The set was tied 5-5 early, but Marquette utilized a 17-6 run to take control and cruise to the victory.

It was more of the same in the third set, with Marquette jumping out another lead, including a 13-7 advantage on a kill by Ring. Marquette maintained a comfortable advantage the remainder of the set, eventually claiming a 25-18 win on a kill from Radeff.

UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles continue conference play when they host league favorite Creighton on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. CT on FS1.
