Jocelyn Leigh nets fifth goal of the season
The Marquette University women's soccer team (4-3-2, 0-0-2 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 1-1 draw at Creighton (4-5-2, 1-1-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon in Omaha Neb.
Â
The Golden Eagles opened the scoring at the 22:52 mark, when forward Jocelyn Leigh worked free down the left side of the box and snuck a shot from 13 yards out just inside the near post. The score was Leigh's fifth of the season, which leads the team.
Â
Marquette maintained consistent possession the remainder of the half, but Creighton evened the score at 1-1 at the 33:31 mark after a penalty kick was awarded following a handball in the box on a Bluejay corner kick.
Â
MU's offensive attack managed just a pair of shots on goal for the match and netminder Hailey Wade finished with seven saves, including a pair of acrobatic stops that were ticketed for the back of the net.
Â
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles open a two-match homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 1 when the team hosts St. John's at Valley Fields.
