Golden Eagles head to Omaha, Nebraska next weekend
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Villanova on Saturday evening at the Sprovieri Tennis Complex.

The Wildcats began the match by taking the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

The Golden Eagles responded with four straight wins in singles action to secure the team victory. Cyrus Ahmad delivered the first singles win at No. 2 in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).

Remi St. Laurent earned Marquette's second singles victory at No. 4 in two sets (6-3, 6-4), giving the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead.

Marquette extended its lead to 3-1 with a win at No. 1, where Blake Roegner triumphed in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 6-1).

The match-clinching victory came from freshman TJ Ryerson at the No. 3 position, who won in three sets (5-7, 6-1, 6-2).

Hugh Perrill secured the fifth point at No. 5 in an eight-point pro set (8-4).

UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles will travel to Omaha, Nebraska, to take on Creighton on Friday, March 28, and Nebraska Omaha on Saturday, March 29.
