Golden Eagles open three-game homestand against DePaul Wednesday
The No. 4/4 Marquette University men's basketball team (19-6, 10-4 BIG EAST)Â continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 81-53 setback at No. 1/1 UConn (24-2, 14-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon in the XL Center.

The loss snapped Marquette's eight-game winning streak and extended the Huskies' national-best run of wins to 14 games.

Guard Kam Jones finished with 15 points and forward Oso Ighodaro chipped in 14 points and four rebounds.

MU's offensive attack struggle the entire afternoon, finishing just 36.8 percent from the floor and 5-of-22 from behind the 3-point line. The Golden Eagles were outscored 21-4 on second-chance points and 17-9 on points from turnovers.

Marquette trailed 42-26 at the intermission after the Huskies closed the first half with a 13-2 run. The Golden Eagles shot just 34.4 percent from the floor overall in the opening 20 minutes, including a 2-of-13 effort from behind the 3-point line. The score was tied at 18-18 with just over 10 minutes left.
