The No. 6/6 Marquette University men's basketball team (9-3, 0-1 BIG EAST) opens the home portion of its BIG EAST Conference schedule on Friday, Dec. 22 when the squad hosts Georgetown (7-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) at 6 p.m. CT. Â FS1 features the national television broadcast, with Jeff Levering (play-by-play) and LaPhonso Ellis (analyst) calling the action. Â Following Friday's outing, the Golden Eagles will scatter across the country for Christmas before hosting Creighton on Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. CT on CBS. Â
Marquette Owns Edge In All-Time Series

Marquette owns a 21-14 advantage in the all-time series, with the Golden Eagles claiming wins in 11 of the last 14 outings. Â

All but two of the series matchups have come since Marquette joined the BIG EAST in 2005-06.

The programs first met during the 1941-42 campaign and the Hoyas were able to claim a 35-34 victory. Â The next meeting didn't come until the 1971-72 season and Marquette posted an 88-44 winning decision.

Guard Kam Jones has reached double figures in all 12 outings this season and through games of Dec. 19 is ranked 15th in the BIG EAST in scoring (15.4 ppg.).

The Memphis native currently owns 956 career points and is on pace in early 2024 to become the 51st player in Marquette history with 1,000 points.

Jones is posting personal-best numbers in 2023-24, shooting 47.2 percent (13th in BIG EAST) from the floor overall and 41.8 percent from behind the 3-point line. Â He has also significantly improved his efficiency at the charity stripe, shooting 79.3 percent (23-of-29) from the line this season after knocking down just 64.6 percent of his chances during his first two seasons on campus.

Dating back to last season, Marquette is in possession of a 17-game winning streak at Fiserv Forum, which is currently tied for the fifth-longest active streak in the country through games of Dec. 19.
