Golden Eagles continue play at Allstate Maui Invitational
The No. 4/5 Marquette University men's basketball team (4-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) opened play at the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational with a 71-69 win against UCLA (3-1, 0-0 Pac-12) Monday night in Honolulu.
Â
Forward David Joplin led the way with 19 points and Oso Ighodaro chipped in 14 points and four rebounds.
Â
The Golden Eagles erased a 12-point deficit with a 17-0 run midway through the second half. A triple by Kam Jones would extend the lead to as many as seven points before the Bruins clawed their way back into the game.
Â
Marquette trailed 35-30 at the intermission after shooting just 39 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of action. Joplin led the way with 10 points, but MU was just 5-of-18 from behind the 3-point line.
