MILWAUKEE – The No. 19 Marquette University women's volleyball team swept DePaul on Wednesday night 25-15, 25-20, 25-15, at the Al McGuire Center to open BIG EAST Conference play.Â
The Golden Eagles (10-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) were led by junior outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton with 14 kills on .444 hitting. Junior middle blocker Carsen Murray hit a match-high .800 (8-0-10) and MU hit a combined .402 (48-9-97) to pick up its fifth sweep of the year.
The BIG EAST-opening win is Marquette's eighth straight and its 10-1 record ties the best start to a season since joining NCAA Division I in 1986. The Golden Eagles also began the 1997 season 10-1.Â
DePaul (4-9, 0-1 BIG EAST) was led by Hanna Karl with nine kills and nine digs.

- The Golden Eagles are off to their best 11-match start to a season since 1997. They began the that campaign with 10-straight victories after losing their season opener to Bowling Green.
- MU has three more home matches to conclude its season-long 10-match homestand.
- Marquette is 40-29Â all-time against DePaul and has faced the Blue Demons more times than any opponent outside of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
- MU middles Carsen Murray (.800; 8-0-10) and Hattie Bray (.600; 10-1-15) each hit over .500 in the win with only one hitting error. Murray led both teams with four blocks.
- MU has won 23-straight matches against DePaul dating back to a 3-2 loss in Chicago on Nov. 1, 2008. Prior to that, MU had won seven in a row and has captured 30Â of the last 31Â meetings overall.
- Since joining the BIG EAST for the 2005 season, MU is 26-1 against DePaul.
