Money raised supports scholarships and sports excellence funds
Donors, alumni and friends of Marquette Athletics have contributed over $300,000 to benefit the Blue & Gold United annual fundraising initiative to support student-athlete scholarships and all 11 Sport Excellence Funds. This recent fundraising achievement is in addition to the more than $1,650,000 that was donated by our generous season ticket holders earlier this year.
An impressive 900+ alumni, parents and friends participated across all fundraising efforts including the National Marquette Day @ Home Virtual Sellout, Blue & Gold United Virtual Silent Auction and our fourth annual Give Marquette Day.
On Give Marquette Day, the M Club Participation Challenge engaged the greatest number of former student-athletes than year's past. Up from 71 in 2020, over 280 former student-athletes made a gift during the 2021 campaign increasing this year by 400 percent (or four times).
Thanks to a generous donor the Women's Lacrosse team received an $8,000 matched gift for having the highest M Club participation rate and the Men's Golf team received an $8,000 matched gift for raising the highest amount of overall dollars.
Â
"We are incredibly grateful for the generous support we received for our student-athletes on Give Marquette Day," Senior Director of Development and Associate Athletic Director Grant Leiendecker said. "The support we generated on this one day of giving will have a great impact on the opportunities and experiences we are able to provide our student-athletes going forward. Thank you to all of our donors that helped make Give Marquette Day a tremendous success!"
