#MUBB Downs WVU 82-71 To Earn Title Game Trip

The Marquette University men's basketball team (5-0) advanced to the championship game of the 2021 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic with an 82-71 win over West Virginia (3-1) Friday night in TD Arena.

The Golden Eagles, who trailed by 12 points at halftime, will take on No. 22/24 St. Bonaventure at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, Nov. 21 on ESPN.

Guard Tyler Kolek led four players in double figures with a season-high 18 points and and Justin Lewis added 17 points.

Marquette used a 13-0 run in the second half to take a 55-54 advantage and pulled away for the 11-point win.

Notables:

Marquette jumped out to an early 14-8 advantage, but WVU led by as many as 12 points in the first half after MU's Kur Kuath went to the bench with two fouls
Guard Tyler Kolek had 10 first-half points to lead the way and finished with a season-high 18 points
Guard Greg Elliott made his season debut after missing the first four games
Olivier-Maxence Prosper grabbed a season-high nine rebounds, surpassing his previous best total of seven against SIUE. The nine boards matched a career high, which he set against Duke on Jan. 30, 2021
Marquette finished with a season-high 12 3-pointers, including a 8-of-13 effort from deep in the second half
