The Golden Eagles late comeback fell short in the quarterfinals

The Golden Eagles (12-10) fell behind early, 3-0 to Villanova, but stormed back as Lesley Foe set the tone putting MU ont he board with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 6 position. There were multiple rain delays in the match, which stopped play mid-match, but Fleur Eggink pushed through a tough match at the top spot and prevailed with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win. Milica Novakovic responded after a delay and tied the match at 3-3 as she fought back from behind a set and won at the No. 3 position, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Overall the Golden Eagles showed heart, but ultimately the Wildcats took the final point and will move on in the tournament.
