GRAND FORKS, ND –The Marquette University women's tennis team dropped 6-1 to Montana State on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats opened the match by securing the doubles point taking a 1-0 lead.
Montana State picked up five straight singles wins to clinch the team victory.
Marquette's lone point in the match came by way of a 6-1, 6-4 win from Elena Duva over Lola Bean.
MU coach Brett Barnett on the contest:
Tough match for us today. Montana State played well and deserved to win. I feel we played too tentative at times and played from behind too often. Elena did a great job playing a tricky opponent and I'm proud of her for going 2-0 on the weekend. We'll regroup and learn from this together. I'm looking for us to play our style of tennis and believe in what we're doing next week in Illinois.
