
Marquette Defeats IUPUI Saturday Afternoon, 6-1

MU hosts Chicago State Sunday at 1 p.m. CT
The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-4) opened its two-match weekend homestand with a 6-1 victory over IUPUI (6-4) Saturday afternoon at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles, who host Chicago State at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, are undefeated (14-0) at home dating back to the start of the 2017-18 season.
MU opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions. Junior Luke Smrek and freshman Fran San Andres secured the point with a 6-3 decision at No. 3.
Senior Greg Anderson was the first off the court in singles, posting a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5. He was quickly followed by Smrek at No. 2 and Alvaro Verdu sealed the team win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 1.
