The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-3) dropped a 4-1 non-conference decision at Arizona (4-2) Sunday afternoon in Tucson, Ariz.
The Golden Eagles opened the match by claiming the doubles point, but weren't able to continue the momentum into singles action.
Junior Alvaro Verdu and senior Nick Dykema made quick work of their opponents at the No. 1 position, earning a 6-2 victory. The senior tandem of Mackenzie Stearns and Kristiyan Trukov clinched the point with a decisive 6-1 decision at the No. 2 spot.
Marquette returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 17 when the team hosts Green Bay at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
