The Marquette University men's tennis team (8-6) dropped a 4-0 decision at No. 44 SMU (15-5) Sunday afternoon in non-conference action on the road.
The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for the Golden Eagles, who return to action Monday afternoon at UT-Arlington.
The Mustangs opened the match by claiming the doubles point with a narrow 6-4 decision at the No. 3 spot clinching it. SMU would go on to earn straight-set singles wins at the No. 1, 3 and 5 positions to seal the team victory.
Only freshman Greg Anderson and Alvaro Verdu were able to claim a set on Sunday afternoon, but neither player was able to complete his respective match before SMU earned the four points necessary for the win.
