The Marquette University men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships with singles action at Ohio State University.
Sophomore Alvaro Verdu saw his run in the main draw come to an end after a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 setback to Josh Hagar of Notre Dame in the round of 32. Hagar was seeded fourth in the 64-player bracket. Freshman Luke Smrek, who claimed a win over the 12-seeded player in his opener, also fell in the following round. Dave Bacalla of Valparaiso was able to secure a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
The Golden Eagles will wrap up the fall portion of their 2016-17 campaign at the Redbird Classic in Louisville next weekend.
