INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After a tough loss yesterday to Indiana, the Marquette men's tennis team bounced back today with a 6-1 win over IUPUI at the West Indy Racquet Club. The Golden Eagles are now 2-2 on the season.
Marquette got victories at all three doubles spots, earning them the early 1-0 lead. In singles, Brett Binkley took down Ross Gehlhausen at no. 2, 7-5, 6-3 while Greg Sirotek played at no. 5 and defeated Greg Fallowfield, 7-6 (2), 6-4.
Both Stephen Shao and Niko Boulieris had convincing wins over their opponents at no. 2 and no. 5. Shao beat Javier Saab, 6-2, 6-3 and Boulieris defeated Blake Powers, 6-1, 6-1.
"Everyone played at a pretty good level today," assistant coach Raj Gill said. "We went out there and took care of business. We didn't know too much about this team coming in, so we did a good job of raising our level of play."
