Katherine Plouffe To Be Inducted Into Alberta Basketball Hall Of Fame

Former Marquette standout recognized as member of inaugural Hall of Fame class
EDMONTON – Former Marquette University women's basketball great Katherine Plouffe has been selected for induction into the inaugural Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame, earning recognition among the province's most accomplished basketball players.
The Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame continued unveiling its inaugural class this week with the announcement of its female player inductees. Plouffe was one of 10 former players selected and will be honored during the Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame Gala on Aug. 29 at the Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
An Edmonton native, Plouffe enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in Marquette women's basketball history from 2010-14. She earned WBCA All-America honorable mention honors as a senior, was a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection and became one of only three players in program history to record more than 1,700 career points and 1,000 rebounds. Plouffe finished her career with 1,774 points and 1,087 rebounds while helping lead the Golden Eagles to four postseason appearances.
As a senior in 2013-14, Plouffe averaged 19.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, recording 19 double-doubles and leading Marquette in scoring, rebounding, field-goal percentage and blocked shots. She concluded her career ranked among the top scorers and rebounders in school history and remains one of the premier players to wear a Marquette uniform.
According to the Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame, Plouffe was recognized for a distinguished playing career that included two provincial championships at Harry Ainlay High School, All-BIG EAST First Team honors at Marquette, gold medals with Team Canada at both the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, Olympic appearances at the 2016 Rio Games and 2020 Tokyo Games, and three FIBA 3x3 Women's Series championships.
Plouffe became a fixture with Canada's national team program after college and was regarded as one of the world's top 3x3 players. In addition to representing Canada at two Olympic Games, she helped the national team claim multiple international championships and established herself among the country's most accomplished basketball ambassadors.
Beyond her individual accolades, Plouffe has played a significant role in the growth and success of Canadian basketball on the international stage. As a key contributor to both Canada's five-on-five and 3x3 national team programs, she helped elevate the country's profile globally during one of the most successful eras in its history. Her accomplishments have inspired a new generation of Canadian athletes, particularly in her home province of Alberta, while helping establish Canada as a consistent contender in international competition.
