WLAX Ends Season with 17-6 Loss at No. 17 Denver in BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals

DENVER – The Marquette University women's lacrosse team (9-7, 3-3 BIG EAST) closed out the 2026 season with a 17-6 loss at No. 17 Denver (14-3, 6-0 BIG EAST) Thursday afternoon in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Marquette found goals from six different players, with Hanna Bodner, Eileen Dooley, Sarah Beth Burns, Tess Osburn, and Dani Serrano each recording a goal and an assist. Isabelle Casucci would add the other MU score.
The Golden Eagles would strike first, with Dooley finding the back of the net off a feed from Bodner, but DU would answer with three-straight scores. MU would respond with a free-position goal from Burns, but another two goals from the Pioneers put the hosts up three again. Osburn would add a goal with 12 seconds remaining in the first off a feed from Burns to make the score 5-3 after 15 minutes.
Denver would extend the lead to five with another trio of goals, but Bodner would score on a fabulous feed from Dooley to cut into the deficit. Denver would add another two before the half ended, leading 10-4 after 30 minutes.
MU would be held scoreless in the third, and Denver would extend their lead to nine, 13-4, heading into the fourth. Serrano would find a cutting Casucci quickly in the start of the fourth, but the onslaught would continue for Denver, as another pair would run start the running clock, and despite a late score from Serrano, DU would go on to take the game, 17-6.
