RIO GRAND, Puerto Rico – The Marquette men's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule this week, carding a season-low 22-under par, 842 at the Puerto Rico Classic held on the Grand Reserve Country Club.

The Golden Eagles placed 10^th in a field that included eight Top 50 teams, including the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country. MU finished ahead of No, 29 Louisville and No. 37 Purdue.

Johan Widal led the Golden Eagles at 9-under following three straight rounds of 69. The senior moved up eight spots during the final round.

Freshman Mischa Candinas shot the team's low-round of the week with a 5-under 67 in Round 2.
