Golden Eagles celebrated Senior Day at Valley Fields
The Marquette University women's lacrosse team (9-5, 3-2 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST play with a 16-15 win over UConn on Saturday at Valley Fields.
The Golden Eagles were led by Hanna Bodner, who had five goals, two caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Meg Bireley netted four goals and had one assist, including her 200th goal and 250th point of her career, becoming the first player in program history to hit both marks.
Sarah Beth Burns had a career-high four goals and a career-high five points. Tess Boehm had a career-high four assists.
Marquette took a 5-0 lead early and led 6-1 after the first quarter. A six goal second quarter from UConn closed the gap to 11-7 at the break.
The Golden Eagles led 13-10 going into the fourth before UConn scored the first two goals of the final frame to cut the deficit to one. Hanna Bodner and Meg Bireley scored MU's three goals in the fourth as MU hung on for the one goal victory.
UConn (9-5, 2-2 BIG EAST) were led by Emma Dacey, who had three goals and two assists.

- Bireley has 72 points on the season, the third most points in a single season in program history.
