Golden Eagles host Xavier in BIG EAST home opener Saturday
The Marquette University women's lacrosse team won an 18-17 overtime thriller on Tuesday afternoon over Arizona State, 18-17.
The Golden Eagles (7-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) were led by Hanna Bodner, who had career-high nine points with eight goals and one assist. Bodner netted the overtime game winner at the 3:11 mark in the first overtime period.
Marquette trailed by one at halftime, 11-10. MU held the Sun Devils scoreless in the third quarter while scoring five goals to lead 15-11 going into the fourth.
The Sun Devils scored the first five goals of the final frame to take a 16-15 lead with 8:04 remaining before Meg Bireley's first goal of the day 30 seconds later tied it.
Arizona State regained the lead with 4:29 left in the fourth before Hanna Bodner scored her seventh of the day with 55 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
The Sun Devils (7-4, 0-0 Big 12) were led by Teagan Ng, who had five goals.
