Marquette picks up its seventh sweep of the season
The Marquette women's volleyball team swept DePaul on Sunday evening in BIG EAST action to conclude an 11-match homestand.Â
The Golden Eagles were led by Natalie Ring with 12 kills while Hattie Bray secured eight of her own. Defensively, Adriana Studer led with 17 digs, followed by Isabela Haggard who snagged ten. MU moves to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
Marquette and DePaul stayed close to start in the first set, but the Blue Demons began to pull away with a 19-16 lead. The Golden Eagles responded, going on a 5-0 run to take the lead 21-19. MU closed out the set with a 25-23 victory. Five Golden Eagles chipped in offensively with at least two kills. Defensively, Mari King and Studer recorded four digs a piece.
The second set was reminiscent of the first, with both teams remaining close early on. Marquette took the lead at 18-16 with a kill from Ring. It didn't last long as both teams used kills and errors to level the match 20-20. Down the stretch the Blue and Gold led 23-22 after a Bray kill. The final two points came from DePaul errors, and the Golden Eagles secured the 25-22 win. MU was led by Ring with six kills, followed by Radeff who added five.
Marquette continued its momentum going in the third set. The Golden Eagles got out to a 13-5 lead early with strong offensive and defensive efforts. Despite the Blue Demons attempting to make a comeback, MU remained composed through the final stretch of action as it led 24-15. Sienna Ifill secured the match, 25-15, for MU.

Marquette will take on its first BIG EAST road test of the season, facing Seton Hall on Oct 10 and St. John's on Oct. 11. Both matches are set to begin at 4 p.m. CT.
