The No. 7/7 Marquette University men's basketball team (11-4, 2-2 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 78-75 loss at Seton Hall (10-5, 3-1 BIG EAST).
Forward Oso Ighodaro finished with 22 points and eight rebounds and forward David Joplin added 15 points.
The Golden Eagles trailed by many as 10 points in the second half before rallying to tie the game at 66-66 with 5:46 left on the clock, but the Pirates responded with a 10-0 run. MU rattled off a 9-0 run of its own to close the gap to just one point, but the team turned it over prior to a game-tying 3-point attempt.
Marquette was down 42-39 at the intermission after leading by as many as 10 points (23-13) and trailing by as many as eight (40-32) in the opening 20 minutes of action. Ighodaro and Kam Jones led the way offensively, each scoring 10 points, and guard Stevie Mitchell provided a spark defensively in the closing minutes, forcing three-straight turnovers.
