Popovic concludes career with singles, doubles win
The Marquette University women's tennis team (13-10) saw its 2021-22 campaign come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to Xavier (13-10) in the semifinals of the 2022 BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, S.C.
Marquette was seeded second in the 11-team field at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center and the Musketeers were the No. 3 seed.
Xavier opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions. The Marquette tandem of Natalija Popovic and Emilija Kojcic cruised to a quick 6-0 win at No. 1 and Popovic would go on to earn a straight-set win at No. 1 singles.
