
Werch again selected to BIG EAST Honor Roll

Werch earned honor roll recognition for the second-straight week
NEW YORK - For the second time in as many weeks Marquette University graduate student Hope Werch was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for women's volleyball, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Werch led the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 weekend with wins at Xavier and Butler. She posted a team-high 29 kills (4.14 per set) and four service aces (0.57/set) while also contributing 17 digs (2.44) and a pair of blocks.
Marquette's all-time leader in aces notched three against the Bulldogs on Sunday, and led MU in kills in each match with 15 on Saturday and 14 Sunday. She hit .312Â for the week and nearly had double-doubles with nine digs in each contest. Werch now leads MU's offense this season in kills per set with 3.03 per frame.
MU closes out the regular season this weekend against Georgetown and Villanova at the Al McGuire Center. In addition to Alumnae Weekend, the Golden Eagles will honor seven student-athletes on Senior Night prior to the match against Villanova on Saturday night.Â
All four semifinalists for the 2021 BIG EAST Championship, presented by JEEP, have clinched their berths into the tournament, which will be hosted by Marquette on Nov. 26-27. The Golden Eagles will host Creighton, UConn and DePaul for the event.
