No. 17 Marquette Sweeps St. John's, 3-0

The Golden Eagles have won six straight matches
MILWAUKE--The 17th-ranked Marquette volleyball team closed out the regular season with its 20th sweep of the year in a 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-15) victory over St. John's on Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center.
The match started on a high note with a pre-match ceremony honoring the Golden Eagles (25-5, 15-2) three seniors, Anna Haak, Abby Julian and Jenna Rosenthal.
Rosenthal led MU in the match with 12 kills, no errors and a team-best .571 hitting percentage, while Haak was also in double figures with 10 kills.
Lauren Speckman and Sarah Rose each handed out 21 assists, while Martha Konovodoff collected 11 digs.
Marquette started the match slow and trailed St. John's (23-10, 12-6) 20-15, but turned it around to tie take set point on a kill from Allie Barber, 24-23. The Red Storm held off for one point, but another kill from Barber and an attack error from St. John's finished an 11-4 run by the Golden Eagles for the win.
Set two and three were in Marquette's control and although the Red Storm challenge through a few stretches, the Golden Eagles won comfortably.
St. John's was led by Efrosini Alexakou and Rachelle Rastelli with nine and eight kills, respectively, while Amanda Sanabio tallied 14 digs.
The Golden Eagles hit a combined .365 clip, including a stellar .556 mark in the final frame with just two errors continuing their trend of being the most efficient hitting team in the BIG EAST.
Marquette will see St. John's again as the No. 2 Golden Eagles take on No. 3 Red Storm in the 2018 BIG EAST Championship semifinals on Friday, Nov. 23. Top-seeded Creighton is this year's host with all matches played at D.J. Sokol Arena. The semifinals air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
