Verdu Named BIG EAST Athlete Of The Week

Marquette University men's tennis player Alvaro Verdu has been named the BIG EAST Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The honor is the second of the year for Verdu, who also claimed the accolade on Feb. 1.
The Elda, Spain, native clinched the team victory in the 4-3 win at Creighton over the weekend, posting a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 decision over Armando Gandini at the No. 1 position. He also claimed a pair of doubles wins versus the Bluejays and UMKC.
The Golden Eagles (13-4) have won eight-straight matches and travel to league rivals Xavier (April 8) and Butler (April 9) this weekend.
