Gebes and Ambrosio Advance at ITA Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Marquette University women's tennis Junior Erin Gebes and freshman Silvia Ambrosio had a successful first day on the court at the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by the University of Michigan. The duo earned a first round bye in the doubles main draw and advanced to the third round of play.
Gebes and Ambrosio defeated crosstown-foe Milwaukee, 8-3 and will play Rooney and Larner from Northwestern in the round of 16 beginning Saturday morning.
In a doubles consolation match junior Diana Tokar and sophomore Paula Tormos Sanchez defeated Eastern Michigan by way of retirement, 5-2.
Ambrosio and Gebes will also play in the singles main draw which begins Saturday at 9 a.m. Central time in Ann Arbor with Ambrosio taking on Jerricka Boone from Illinois as Gebes will play Wisconsin's Maria Avgernios.
