SUGAR GROVE, Illinois - After encountering a mid-round weather delay, the Marquette University men's golf team sits in eighth place after round one of Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms.
Nick Nelson led all Golden Eagles by firing an even par 72, followed closely by freshman Trevor Thomas who carded a 2-over-par 74. Zach Gaugert, Brandon Cloete and Pat Sanchez all finished their day at 4-over.
Marquette carded a team score of 298, which puts them only five strokes out of the top-five.
The Golden Eagles will look to climb the leaderboard in round two, scheduled for Saturday.
