Dawson Goes 1-1 in USTA/ITA Singles Qualifying Round

Marquette University women's tennis senior Ali Dawson advanced to the second round of the 2014 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional singles qualifying round on Thursday, hosted by the University of Illinois.
Dawson opened the first round with a 6-1,6-4 victory over Schober from Cleveland before falling to Wisconsin's Sydney Rider in a three set, 4-6, 6-1, 2-6 decision.
Dawson was the only MU player to compete on the opening day. Senior Ana Pimienta and Erin Gebes will team up to begin the doubles main draw on Friday beginning at 3:15 p.m. against Wisconsin's Rider and Stepanova. The duo of Dawson and Aleeza Kanner will open main draw doubles at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
