Marquette Cross Country Announces 2008 Schedule

MILWAUKEE - Head coach Mike Nelson has announced the Marquette cross country schedule for 2008.
"We are very excited with our schedule for the upcoming season," Nelson said. "The way that the schedule is laid out should provide us with the best opportunity to compete in the NCAA Championships. With about thirteen at-large spots available every year it is important that we earn as many at-large points as possible."
The Golden Eagles open the season in St. Louis, Mo.at Washington University's Big River Running Early Bird meet on Sept. 30 at 9 a.m.
For the season's second meet, Marquette will make the short trip to DeKalb, Ill. on Sept. 12 for the NIU Huskie Invitational. After two weeks off the Golden Eagles will then travel to BIG EAST-foe Notre Dame to take part in the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 3.
On Oct. 18 the NCAA Pre-Nationals will take place in Terre Haute, Ind., the same location where the NCAA Championships will occur on Nov.24.
The BIG EAST Conference Championships on Nov. 1 in the Bronx, N.Y., at Van Cortlandt Park will provide a warm-up for the the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, which will take place Nov. 15 in West Lafayette, Ind.
