MILWAUKEE - Sophomore cross country runner Jayne Grebinski will be running in the 2007 AGSI Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Dec. 1. The race will be held at The Arboretum on the University of Guelph campus in Guelph, Canada.
"Jayne has a really exceptional opportunity to compete against the best cross country runners in Canada," head coach Mike Nelson said. "Her goal is to represent Canada on an international stage. This is her first opportunity to earn that right."
Grebinski will be running in the senior women's 7K and to earn the chance to qualify for the world cross country championships, held in Edinburgh, Scotland.
"I am really excited, this is my first race running at the senior level," Grebinski said. "Now that I am old enough to run in the senior race the competition is going to be more intense. I will be one of the youngest running at this level. The other runners have a lot of experience and have ran for Team Canada before. My eventual goal is to run for Canada and this is a good race to begin trying. I know I need to work my way up."
