Split Squad competes at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational

Elmhurst, Ill. ? With most of the track and field squad competing at the Pacesetter Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana the remaining members took their talents to the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational. Although at a disadvantage because of their lack of competitors, the men and women still managed to turn in many impressive finishes.
Freshman Brynn Kosmoski ran the 100 meters in 13.34 seconds good enough for fifth place and four points in the event. Kosmoski also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 16-02.52. She earned the women nine points on the day.
In the other sprints, also collecting points for the women were Sarah Hunt and Bethany Wolf in the 400 meters. Hunt finished in fifth place with a 1:04.08, good for four points and Wolf grabbed one and a half points with a time of 1:05.23, tying for seventh.
Senior Leslie Lawton racked up five points with her fourth place finish in the 5000 meter run at 19:19.62. Also competing in the event was Beth Pollard who finished in twelfth running the race in 20:45.40.
In the field events for the women Danielle Hubmann took home three points with a sixth place finish in the pole vault.
At the meet the women finished in tenth place with twenty-two and a half points.
On the men?s side sophomore Loren Wagner pulled out a victory in the 400 meters with a time of 57.21. His time garnered the men ten points for the meet.
Freshmen Adeola Giwa competed in both the 200 and 400 meters. In the 200 his time of 23.01 was good enough for seventh place and earned the men two points. In the 400 he finished sixteenth with a time of 52.71.
Also earning points for the men was Matt Scott in the 5000 meters. He finished ninth after running the event in 16:36.18.
The men with their fourteen points placed fifteenth in the meet.
