Terri Mitchell (1991-2014) led the Golden Eagles to both team and individual success during her 18-year tenure as women’s basketball head coach. She guided the program to seven NCAA tournament appearances, four Conference USA regular season titles and the 2008 Women’s National Invitation Tournament Championship. The team claimed 348 wins under her guidance and her winning percentage (.618) is second-best in program history. Mitchell was named the league’s coach of the year on three occasions and the Golden Eagles claimed 10 seasons with 20-or-more victories. She also worked for five seasons at MU as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach.
